At one time or another I encounter an interesting function in Windows or a thing I want to have a closer look at. That's when I stay at work even longer, since I want to use VB :) Who said, sitting in an office can't be fun?
The apps are freeware. Use them at your own risk, I neither give support nor am I responsible for anything they might do to your machine. Take all the precautions you can, since what works with my machine might harm yours.
You can nevertheless spread them freely, provided you give credit to me and don't change anything. In any case I hold the copyright, so if you don't give credit, I shall do my very worst to you. Imagine :) Please don't put them on your server, rather link here. I constantly play around with every app, so they're surely change sooner or later.
The applications are but the executables, no runtime components are included. Most of you will have them on their machine allready, if not, download the files necessary. In some cases (especially with Win NT), you'll have to use a complete setup-package, mail me for it if you're stuck or don't know what to do.
If you miss a component, I can send it to you or look at the additional files. You'll have to register them with regsvr32.exe. CAUTION: If you don't know what the last sentence means, mail me for the complete setup!
The apps "to come" will be here soon, just drop in again :) They're older apps I want to refresh before I pass them over.
Those "planned" apps will take some time, but a screensaver is quickly done and might come in any day.

A small frontend for Plucker, the greatest app around when it comes to downloading websites into the PDA ;) Look here: www.plucker.gnu-designs.com Use the full install (PLuckerFrontend) at least once to get all the libraries that are necessary.

Use this one for the latest build, but only if you got the full build at least once. |

This screensaver originally was a riddle posted to alt.hacker. The first to solve it was *Ta-TAAAH* Killingtime. Hard on his heels, and possibly beaten by timezone only was Fabien. Anyway, the quotes still need some work, as there are no linebreaks. AND I'M STILL WAITING FOR OTHERS TO SEND ME THEIR MoDs! Some interesting functions here: - Get and Put, which are seldom used - Types to create database-entries of a predefined length - A class together with a public type - The API declares (and their use) to disable the system keys and the taskbar The registry module I use is a beautiful thing from Dave Scarmozzino (WWW.TheScarms.Com) All credits for this go to him, and a big THANKS for placing it in public domain. |

One of my all-time-favourites ;)
If you're stuck with Windows at work, you'll have at least something pretty to look at. It all started out with an animated *.gif of Tux and my hate of ActiveDesktop...
A Pingu.txt is included. You'll need the fm20.dll, the mscomctl.ocx and the mscomct2.ocx. |

A small utility that starts a screensaver as the child of a "normal" window.
The hook is, that RunScr allows resizing and setting priority, so that you can instruct your screensaver to run without disturbing your more important tasks.
This version works only with screensavers that support preview. I'm working on an update, do stay tuned :) |

PPA (Personal Playful Assistant) is some kind of do-all for lazy and/or absorbed people...
It's prominent feature is a calendar with a reminder. What makes it rather singular: you can set it to remind you daily, weekly, monthly or yearly. The database eats it all.
To make it a bit more interesting, you can instruct it to play a CD or .wav on the set time - or start another program. That's nicer than using a beep-beep-beep alarm clock, don't you think?
PWA hides or unhides windows with a menu, sends keystrokes (getting rid of that nagger), and allows keeping windows above all others... I hate cluttered taskbars :)
To top it all, it's got a teatimer. I _always_ forget my tea :)
Refer to the readme.txt, some of the features in PWA are tricky.
The program requires the MSAgent core-components, at least one MSAgent-character (Merlin is preferred).
If you want it to talk to you (which is of course possible), you need the speech-engine, too.
Those files are available at Microsoft's, but their links change all the time so that they're likely to be broken if I put them here. Do a search for "MSAgent" and then look for "downloads". |

That one's of no use for you if you don't play Creatures (the game from Mindscape).
I love the game from a professional view (What some people do to innocent bytes ;) ) as well as for the cute graphics.
When playing, I wondered how the DDNA worked over the generations. I put together this app to manage all creatures' genes in a database and compare the genes of different generations. Well, it was a small thing to add a family-tree, a photo-album and a DDE-interface.
GenePool will make it easier for you to plan your breeding, yet I didn't include a hex-editor. If you want to change the genenomes directly, I propose using the excellent genetics-editor of Chris Double.
There's a GenePool.txt included. Read it carefully. This is the complete setup, since the app needs many controls. |

A screensaver with a history ;) When I saw the film with a colleague, &H0 Varoquier and I immediately disliked the computer-displays - they looked so much like an IBM-machine ;)
We began speculating, how much the display alone inspired dislike (to say the least)... Well, but we had to admit they were good looking. Now the dropping lines can be on your screen, too. And on &H0's, of course ;)
The pictures were taken from a screenshot of the film I found included with a KDE-theme.
Simply unpack the screensaver and copy it to your windows-directory. You will need the msvbvm60.dll and the mscomctl.ocx
CAUTION: This screensaver is alpha in the best case. It does _not_ implement all security (no password if you don't use NT for example) and I did no testing aside from running it on my machine. |

Reading ETexts in a book-like style, taking notes (quote the text if you want to), bookmark where you were last time... Quite a treat for someone as lazy as me :)
I call it beta, since the colour of the font can't be set with files ending in .txt You can work around it, if you simply change the extension to .rtf.
You'll need quite some controls for it: tab32x20.ocx, comdlg32.ocx and richtx32.ocx. You possibly have the latter two, but tab32x20 is not widely used - better check. |

This version is not as pretty, but better suited for smaller monitors.
As far as bugs and missing features are concerned, it is updated in contrast to the fancy version.
I decided to post the full setup here, so if you don't know how to handle registering controls, take this version. |

HALIM is a MUD-Client. It's INSTABLE ALPHA by now, but I'm quite confident ;) It's here for Ronda, who can't wait. Don't mind the hopping letters. That's not 1337-5p34|<, it's an acronym ;) |

LiDuS is a little passive server.
You can set it up to trip an intruder, ping, and traceroute him. Just sit back and watch the fun.
Skript-Kiddiots, look out: LiDuS is nothing for you. It's passive, you won't be able to actively connect to another machine.
Of course, you can send also, thus faking a protocol like the all-famous LOGIN-sequence ;), but only after a connection is made _from_ a remote machine.
If another person connects to you, you can abuse LiDuS as chat-client, but LiDuS himself is totally passive. |
